Early Days June 6, 2009 Mr. B. Scott (North Yorkshire United Kingdom) Toshiba Satellite L350-171 - Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 2.00Ghz, 2Gb, 250Gb, 17" TFT, DVDSM, VHP
Only had the machine a couple of days, First impressions very good.
Screen display excellent but not tried every thing yet.
Speed, a bit slower than I thought but that may be the default settings from new. Will tweek and report back.
I read a review somewhere regarding the second partition having the recovery software and it was using 125GB not so it only uses around 19GB.
Plenty of room on the hard drive.

Toshiba L350-171 laptop April 4, 2009 Mr. I. Welton (Northumberland, UK) Toshiba Satellite L350-171 - Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 2.00Ghz, 2Gb, 250Gb, 17" TFT, DVDSM, VHP
After weeks of searching for a 17" laptop, I found this on Amazon. Now after a few months use I am very impressed with it. This is the first PC I have used with Vista and had been warned by friends not to get one with Vista installed. But now I am used to it I like it very much.
Toshiba Satellite February 5, 2009 Ms. Iveta Gelanova This notebook is very reliable. The battery life is a bit on a shorter side and also, the notebook is a bit on a heavier side. But all in all, when it is used instead of a desktop, as I am using it, the notebook has got good parameters and is easy to work with.
Reasonable product at reasonable price January 14, 2009 C. Ng (UK) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Got mine at John Lewis as they were offering £440 with 2yr warranty. The first machine to arrive was faulty as the screen kept going off and the system hanged, but John Lewis arranged a next day replacement which worked fine.
Vivid colours and good size screen so you don't have to squint. Haven't had a problem with reflections. Resolution is average as there is some ghosting around text. Nice to have a numerical keypad next to the qwerty keyboard. The processor is pretty fast, no delays with browsers and loading programs. The webcam doesn't have a great resolution but is functional. No problems with the microphone either, didn't detect any feedback. Toshiba does provide proprietary software for backing up your hardrive to DVD, the harddrive is also partitioned in half, one for the OS and programs, the other for recovery if the system crashes. All in all a good value laptop for the screen size.
Nice machine, warranty service is not good. January 2, 2009 shaz17 (England) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I rang customer services with a problem, they were very polite and helpful, but to get a repair it is a lengthy (They seem to forget about you) process.
After initial contact you have to wait for the repair dept to ring you, which is 48 hours after you initially rang the customer service line. (They don't work weekends, so if you rang Friday, it could be Monday or Tuesday before you get a call). I was lucky they rang the same day I called.
Then they arrange a time and pick up of your laptop by dhl. Must admit you dont need the box as they are supposed to have packaging and a label for it to go back, if they havent they arent allowed to take the laptop.
I hope they don't leave it about a week (If you are lucky) before they ring you to say sorry this fault is not covered by the warranty, do you want us to repair it at ? such a cost or we can return it unrepaired at a cost of £35 for postage and a fee for us looking at it? This is what I am told just incase it isnt covered...shocked me that did.
I know they had my eldest daughters for 6 weeks before she got nasty with them asking where it is, she finally got it back after nearly 2 months at there repair centre (That includes delivery there and back)
Which should be a turn around of 3-5 days, not including if they have to order a part in, but everyone I have spoken too, said they have taken longer than this stated period.
And the charging part (inside) of the laptop is not very good, they break and they may not be covered by the warranty, now if loads are having this problem, seems to me it is a fault on all of them, but I will have to wait and see. I was told by a computer shop that laptops are well known for this problem.
I gave it 3 stars as it is a lovely machine, not as fast as I thought it would be, but it lost 2 stars for the repair system. Very frustrating.
I will amend my review after I have received mine back, I will add pro's & cons as I go along.
It has gone back in for yet more repairs. A key popped off and I have to pay for that. I also got the blur screen of death (Happens a lot with Vista and its updates), now even the blue screen has gone and the screen is just blank and Im told I may have to pay for this repair also....Pfftt... Each time it comes back from the repairs shop there are even more scratches on it. I wonder how long they will have this time and how long we will have it before it goes back for more repairs?
If it goes again when i get it back, I am returning it as faulty to the place I got it from.
Toshiba & Sony are the 2 brands that go back to the shop more than any other...Samsung is being voted the best for not needing repairs like these brands do and to top it all they try and make you pay for the repairs!
They failed to pick it up and I had to do a lot of phoning around to get it sorted for another pickup day...to much messing and frustration dealing with their repairs dept and to top it all they can't quote you for a repair until they get the laptop? I mean how much are they going to charge to have a key fitted on (when it would have cost me a Fiver down the local comp repair shop).....watch this space....
