great computer! nice design. easy to use.
great choice if you prefer a small, light computer for travelling that has the comforts of a complete computer/notebook.

After doing an extensive search on notebooks, I bought this at Manchester airport dixons(oops not at Amazons)at 508£.Was impressed by processor number 7300(but did not realise it is 1.7 GHz and not 2.2 like other(but 15")notebooks. Was told it is 64 bot processor & 64 bit windows 7 but was disappointed to note it is only 32 bit( I am not doing anything that requires a super speed any way, but the numbers were a disappointment). The guy at Dixons assured me by doing a websearch that it is 64 bit ( which ithin it is NOT)and equivalent to a core 2 DUO
A few warnings:
I have wasted 6 DVD discs and still unable to complete the 'back up discs.Does any body know of any tricks to use the included DVD drive to successfully make restore discs?
At primary installation etc, the partitioning will ask your priority for creating disc D and demand 45 GB. I think this might be too much if you are Hard disk memory hungry.
A few good points(you can see I am a pessimist)
Very sleek
Very light weight,
pleasant to the eyes
Really long batter life (if you are using it at home or offic mostly, keep the battery disconnected)This will save your battery

The laptop is good so far, easy to use from the get go and small enough to carry pretty easily.
Definitely worth it if you don't want to fork out double the price on Apple products like a Macbook Air.

Great purchase.
Easy to iuse and does all what it says on the blurb.
Battery life is excellent and performance on normal tasks like word processing, spread sheets etc is fine.
Keyboard is good to use and the whole machine feels well made with no wobbly plastics.
Good fast start up from sllep mode etc.
One issue re WiFi driver which was sorted out with a phone call to Samsung and a quick download although I had to connect to the Internet using a cable so a little hassle if you don't have the requisite cable.

Got this Samsung X420 last week. Delivery from Amazon was very quick.
The laptop was is a very good buy and am very happy with the quality and performance.
I wanted a light laptop that I can pick up with ease as I have Rheumatoid Arthritis in my wrists and fingers. This 14" is just perfect as a watch films on it a lot. The screen quality is really very good. The keyboard size and layout is just right and the keys are a good size. The touch pad and buttons are also a good size.
The battery life lives up to its claims. The laptop even comes with an external DVD-RW. So far Windows 7 hasn't given me any problems and I am enjoying the experience.
All in all one of my best buys so far this year. I look forward to many many hours of enjoyment from the Samsung X420 and would recommend it to anyone wanting a new light weight good quality laptop.
